John Steward

John Steward received his medical training at Guy's and St Thomas's Hospitals, London, before moving to Wolverhampton, where he spent much of his professional life. He founded the town's Eye and Ear Infirmary and served as its Consulting Surgeon for twenty four years. His publications include 'An essay on the formation or proximate cause of sound', which was read before the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1829. He died in Birmingham on 3 August 1880.
