John Stevenson Bushnan

John Stevenson Bushnan was born in London in 1807. He studied medicine in Edinburgh before establishing practice in Dumfries. In 1836 he received his MD from Heidelberg and later practised in Somerset before moving to London, where he became editor of the Medical Times and Gazette. In 1852 he was appointed senior physician at the Metropolitan Free Hospital, a post he held for one year. After several relocations he settled in Southampton in 1882. Bushnan died in London in 1884.
