John Steuart

John Steuart was the second Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. He trained in medicine at the University of Rheims, graduating in 1740. Returning to Edinburgh, he succeeded his father as Professor in 1742, a post he held until his death in 1759. Steuart was also the fifth Baronet Steuart of Coltness.
