John Stedman

John Stedman was the son of the Reverend John Steedman of the Tron Kirk. He trained at the University of Rheims and received an MD in 1740. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1765 and later served as a Censor. He briefly held a physician's post at the Royal Infirmary. His publications include 'History of the Royal Infirmary' and 'Physiological Essays and Observations'. His nephew was the soldier and author John Gabriel Stedman.
