John Robert Lord

John Robert Lord was born in 1874 in Blackburn. He qualified MB CM from the University of Edinburgh in 1896. He served as Demonstrator of Pathology and Assistant Physician at Carmarthen Asylum and received the Bronze Medal of the Medico-Psychological Association for his research. From 1898 he held posts at St Bernard's Hospital and Bexley Mental Hospital, and in 1907 he became Medical Superintendent of Horton Mental Hospital. He was President of the Medico-Psychological Association in 1926-27 and Vice-President of the Section of Mental Diseases of the British Medical Association in 1927. He was an Editor of the Journal of Mental Science from 1901 and in 1929 was appointed a member of the General Nursing Council. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 2 December 1926. He died on 9 August 1931.
