John Murray

John Murray was born in 1778. He was awarded an MD from the University of St Andrews on 17 October 1814. Murray was admitted a Licentiate of the College on 1 November 1814 and elected a Fellow on 7 November 1815. He became a lecturer in natural philosophy, chemistry, materia medica and pharmacy at the University of Edinburgh. He was well known for publications including 'Elements of Chemistry' (1801), 'Elements of Materia Medica and Pharmacy' (1804) and 'A System of Chemistry' (1809). He died at his house in Nicolson Street, Edinburgh, on 22 July 1820.
