John Lorimer

John Lorimer was born in Banffshire in 1732. A British Army surgeon from 1758, he served in the French and Indian War and later the American Revolutionary War. He received an MD from the University of St Andrews in 1764 on the recommendation of George Fordyce. He settled in Pensacola in West Florida, where he also served as a magistrate, and later returned to Britain. Lorimer died in 1795 and is buried in St Olave's churchyard, London.
