John Lind

John Lind, the son of James Lind of Haslar, the discoverer of the cure to scurvy, was awarded a medical degree from St Andrews in 1777. He immediately joined his father in the military hospital of Haslar, becoming junior physician before being promoted to Senior Physician in 1783. By 1819 he retired, and built the Ryde Estate on the Isle of Wight. His son James Player Lind followed his father and grandfather into the medical profession.
