John James Graham Brown

John James Graham Brown graduated MB CM from the University of Edinburgh in 1875 and earned his MD in 1878. He served as Resident Physician and Resident Surgeon at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, later becoming Assistant Physician, Ordinary Physician, and finally Consultant Physician, a position he held until his retirement in 1919. In 1909 he was appointed the first Lecturer in Neurology at the University of Edinburgh. He was twice elected by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh to deliver the Morrison Lectures on mental diseases. His book 'Medical Diagnosis: A Manual of Clinical Methods' was published in five editions. He died in Edinburgh in February 1925.
