John Innes

John Innes received his medical degree from the University of Padua on 21 November 1722. His initial application for a licence from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh was declined for lack of evidence of qualification. On reapplication, he produced his diploma but refused to sign the required undertaking to observe College rules, and a licence was withheld until he complied. He was licensed to practise on 24 March 1724 and admitted as a Fellow on 2 November that same year. Innes lectured in medicine and chemistry at the University of Edinburgh and served on the Infirmary management committee.
