John Hayball Paul

John Hayball Paul was born on the Isle of Wight in 1806 and apprenticed in London before training at Westminster and St Bartholomew's Hospitals. He obtained his MD from St Andrews in 1854 and began work at Camberwell House Asylum in 1846, eventually becoming Medical Superintendent. He co-founded the Royal National Hospital for Consumption at Ventnor and was a founder and long-serving treasurer of the Medico-Psychological Association. He died on 29 January 1899.
