John Farquhar Christie qualified MB CM from the University of Aberdeen in 1895. He studied in Europe, focusing on diseases of the skin, and his first appointment was as House Surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. In 1898 he was appointed Registrar of the Infirmary and in 1903 Assistant Physician specialising in skin diseases, becoming Full Physician in 1910. In 1901 he was appointed Lecturer on Diseases of the Skin at the University of Aberdeen and later also lectured on venereal diseases. He became Chief Medical Officer for Aberdeen in 1920. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1926. He died in 1931.
