John Eason was born in Armadale, West Lothian, in 1874. He was educated at the University of Edinburgh, graduating MB in 1896 and MD in 1905. He was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1899 and elected a Fellow in 1905. He held honorary appointments at Leith Hospital, Chalmers Hospital and the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. During the First World War he served with the Royal Army Medical Corps at the 58th Scottish General Hospital in the Middle East. Later in his career he was Senior Lecturer in Clinical Medicine at the University of Edinburgh and Lecturer in the Practice of Physic at the Edinburgh Royal Colleges' School of Medicine. John Eason died in Edinburgh in 1964, aged ninety.
