John Drummond

Date of Fellowship admission: 7 January 1704

John Drummond received his medical degree from Marischal College, Aberdeen on 27 May 1699. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 7 January 1704 and served as President from December 1722 until November 1727. Drummond was one of twelve individuals appointed to a committee for collecting subscriptions and planning the management of the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The committee hired a small house for receiving the sick poor and appointed twenty managers to oversee its running. Drummond served as a physician to the Infirmary. A printed catalogue of Drummond's library was presented to the College in 1740. Among his collection was a fifteenth-century copy of the 'Cursor Mundi'.
