John Davie Morries

John Davie Morries began studying at the University of Edinburgh in 1825 and became an apprentice at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1826. He graduated MD from the University of Edinburgh in 1831. In 1834 he co-published 'Hortus Medicus' with George Graves. Morries was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1834 and was a member of several learned societies including the Medico-Chirurgical Society, the Royal Medical Society, the Plinian Society and the Edinburgh Phrenological Society.
