John Connel

John Connel graduated MA with honours in Classics at the University of St Andrews before commencing medical studies in Edinburgh, where he obtained his MB in 1867 and MD in 1873. In 1867 he took over a large practice in Peebles from Dr Junor. He was elected a Fellow of the College in 1877 and was an active member of several professional societies, serving as President of both the Edinburgh Obstetrical Society and the Harveian Society, as well as of the Border Counties Branch of the British Medical Association. He died in Peebles on 2 November 1901.
