John Barclay

John Barclay was born in 1758 in Perthshire. He initially worked as a church minister and tutor before studying medicine in 1792. He was awarded an MD at the University of Edinburgh in 1796. Barclay then studied in London before returning to Edinburgh, where he delivered lectures on anatomy, first independently and later in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Barclay published widely on anatomy and chemistry. He died in 1826.
