Jean-Joseph Sue

Jean-Joseph Sue, son of Professor Jean-Joseph Sue of the Academie royale de chirurgie in Paris, qualified in surgery at the Sorbonne in 1781. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1783, then served at the Hopital de la Charite and as Professor of Anatomy at the Academie royale de peinture et de sculpture. After the Revolution he was physician to the National Convention and later Chief Medical Officer to the Consular and Imperial Guards, personal physician to Josephine, and Surgeon-Consultant to Louis XVIII. He was created an Imperial Knight in 1808 and died in 1830.
