James Stewart Fowler

James Stewart Fowler was born in Pittenweem, Fife, in 1871 and educated at Edinburgh Academy and the University of Edinburgh. He served as House Physician at the Royal Infirmary and was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1895, becoming a Fellow in 1897. He graduated MD in 1899, receiving a gold medal for his thesis, and published widely on paediatrics and infant feeding. During the First World War he served as a Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps in Salonika. He died in Elie, Fife, in 1925.
