James Ritchie

James Ritchie trained at the University of Edinburgh, earning his MB CM in 1872 and his MD in 1891. He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. After working under Professor Thomas Annandale and Sir Thomas Grainger Stewart, he established a general practice in Edinburgh. He was a member and one-time president of both the Edinburgh Obstetrical Society and the Edinburgh Medico-Chirurgical Society and was active in the British Medical Association. He published several works, including 'On General Cystic Degeneration of the Adult Kidney' (1892). He died in Edinburgh in 1925.
