James Richan Drever

James Richan Drever was born in Alexandria on the Clyde in 1873. He qualified MB ChB from the University of Glasgow in 1906 and entered general practice on the south side of Glasgow. He was active in the British Medical Association from 1914 and chaired the Insurance Acts Subcommittee for Scotland in 1918-19, also serving on the Scottish Committee and later as its Chairman in 1918-19. In 1919 he was appointed Scottish Medical Secretary to the British Medical Association, a post he held until retirement in 1931. He also served on the Hospitals Service (Scotland) Committee and the Consultative Council of Medical and Allied Services. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 2 November 1926. He died on 7 April 1933.
