James Millar

James Millar was born in Ayr in 1762. He received an MA from the University of Glasgow in 1788 and subsequently worked in Jamaica as a tutor. After returning to Scotland he obtained his MD from the University of Edinburgh in 1795. He later served as a physician at the Edinburgh Dispensary and lectured on chemistry and natural history. Millar died in Edinburgh in 1827.
