James Lamond Lackie

James Lamond Lackie was born in Montrose in 1868. He began his university education at the University of Aberdeen before transferring to the University of Edinburgh, where he graduated in medicine in 1894. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1896. He served as House Physician and House Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary and Maternity Hospital, and later held posts at the Edinburgh Maternity Hospital and as Gynaecologist at Leith Hospital. He was involved in the founding of the Edinburgh Hospital for Diseases of Women in 1910 and acted as an Examiner in Midwifery for several Scottish universities and the University of Durham. He died in 1924.
