James Joseph Cregeen

James Joseph Cregeen studied at St Bartholomew's and Charing Cross Hospitals, London, and graduated MD from the University of St Andrews in 1853. He became a Licentiate of the Society of Apothecaries of London in 1851 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1858. He invented an improved tooth forceps and exhibited it in 1859, published on the treatment of vegetable fibre, and worked as a medical referee for life assurance societies in Rotherhithe and Deptford.
