James Gasking

James Gasking was born in 1756. He trained as a surgeon and began his career in Plymouth. After a few years, and wanting to qualify as a physician, Gasking studied in Leiden, gaining his MD on 10 June 1789 before returning to Plymouth to practise medicine. In his pursuit of professional development, Gasking studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh in 1795 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1796. He continued practising medicine in Plymouth until his death in November 1817. He was buried in St Andrew's Church, Plymouth.
