James Baird

James Baird was the son of James Baird of Chesterhall, the secretary to Lord Seafield, chancellor of Scotland. Baird received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rheims on 21 August 1733 and his MD from the University of St Andrews on 3 June 1737. He had studied under Boerhaave. Baird was licensed to practise on 21 June 1737 and admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 2 May 1738.
