Herbert Henry Ernest Russell

Herbert Henry Ernest Russell was born on 28 October 1875 in South Australia, the son of James Thomas Russell and Susanne Charlotte Russell (nee Bird). He qualified in medicine and was awarded MD by the University of Adelaide. Russell practised in Unley, South Australia, where he served for many years as Medical Officer of Health. He held a range of public health and administrative roles, including appointment to the Board of Management of the Metropolitan Infectious Diseases Hospital in Adelaide following its establishment in 1932, representing the British Medical Association. He also served in the military medical services, attaining the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Russell died on 10 July 1951 and was buried in North Road Cemetery, Nailsworth, Australia.
