Henry Yellowlees

Henry Yellowlees was born on 11 June 1888 in Glasgow, the son of David Yellowlees, psychiatrist. He qualified MB ChB from the University of Glasgow in 1910 and held early psychiatric house posts in Glasgow, Perth, and Edinburgh. In 1922 he was appointed Assistant to the Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh. In 1929 he became Physician for Mental Diseases and Lecturer in Psychological Medicine at St Thomas' Hospital, London, holding both posts for twenty years. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 3 February 1925. After retirement he continued general practice in London and later worked as a Consultant in Bath. His publications include 'A Manual of Psychotherapy' (1923) and 'To Define True Madness' (1953). He died on 5 April 1971.
