Henry Scott

Henry Scott, 3rd Duke of Buccleuch, was born 13 September 1746 to Francis Scott and Caroline, Baroness Greenwich. He toured Europe from 1764-1766 under the tutelage of Adam Smith. On his return to Scotland, he became heavily involved in business and banking ventures. He was the first president of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, serving in the post from 1783 until his death on 11 January 1812.
