Henry Pomery Davison

American banker Henry Pomeroy Davison was born 12 June 1867. From 1917-1919, he was the chair of the War Council of the American Red Cross, during which time $300,000,000 was raised in aid. In 1919, he became the first president of the League of Red Cross Societies (later the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies), a post he held until his death in 1922. The organisation established the Henry Davison award in his honour in 2003. He was awarded honorary fellowship for the role he played during WWI.
