Henry Lonsdale

Henry Lonsdale was born in Carlisle in 1816. He studied medicine in Paris and London before graduating MD at the University of Edinburgh in 1838. He worked briefly in Cumberland before returning to Edinburgh in 1840 to assist Robert Knox with anatomy lectures. Lonsdale was appointed physician to the Royal Public Dispensary in 1841 and later physician to the Cumberland Infirmary in 1846. He died in 1876.
