Harvey Eustace Astles

Harvey Eustace Astles was born in Worcestershire in 1840 and trained at the University of St Andrews, earning his MD in 1883. He emigrated to Australia, continuing his studies at the Universities of Adelaide and Melbourne. He published a pamphlet entitled 'Fermented Liquors: Shall I Use Them or Not?' in 1886 and worked as Physician at Melbourne Hospital and later as Lecturer in Clinical Medicine at the University of Melbourne. He served as President of the Western Australian and South Australian branches of the British Medical Association and acted as a Justice of the Peace for South Australia until his death in 1915.
