Harry Oliphant (also written as Olephant) Nicholson

Harry Oliphant Nicholson was born in 1870, the son of Henry Alleyne Nicholson, Professor of Natural History at the University of Aberdeen. He was educated at the University of Aberdeen and was awarded the MD degree by the University of Edinburgh in 1891. He practised medicine in Kirkcaldy for nine years before returning to Edinburgh, where he served for twenty years as Senior Assistant at the Royal Maternity Hospital. He was Lecturer in Clinical Obstetrics at the University of Edinburgh. He was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1902 and elected a Fellow in 1904. During the First World War he offered his services to the Scottish Medical Service Emergency Committee. He died in Edinburgh in 1941.
