Gilbert Rule

Date of Fellowship admission: 2 October 1695
The Reverend Dr Gilbert Rule was a Presbyterian minister who became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1695. He received his licence to practise that same year. In 1711 he was elected Physician to Heriot's Hospital, succeeding Dr George Mackenzie. Rule also worked to increase subscriptions at the College, and with two other fellows approached the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland to that end.
