Gilbert Alexander Bannatyne

Gilbert Alexander Bannatyne was born c.1867 in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire. He studied medicine at the University of Glasgow, graduating MB in 1888, and served as House Physician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He undertook postgraduate study in Edinburgh and Paris and was awarded the MD degree by the University of Edinburgh in 1891. He was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1892 and elected a Fellow in 1893. He later established a consultant practice in Bath and published on rheumatic arthritis, including a book on the subject in 1896. He died in Malvern, Worcestershire, in 1960.
