George Sampson received his medical degree from the University of Aberdeen on 3 August 1855 and served as surgeon to the Salisbury General Infirmary. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 5 August 1856 and published on topics including 'Asphyxia cured by tracheotomy' and 'On lithotomy'.
