George Pratt Yule

George Pratt Yule was born in 1873. He was educated at George Watson's College and the University of Edinburgh, graduating MB in 1894. He was awarded the BSc in Public Health in 1896 and the MD degree in 1899. He was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1900 and elected a Fellow in 1905. He worked in pathological laboratories at Larbert Institution and later the Crichton Royal Institution. In 1900 he volunteered for service in the South African War and was stationed at Norval's Point on the Orange River. He remained in South Africa until 1912, when he returned to Scotland and was appointed Medical Officer of Health for Fife, a post he held until 1938. He died in Cupar in 1955.
