George Paterson

Date of Fellowship admission: 15/July/1837
George Paterson received his MD from the University of Edinburgh on 12 July 1833 and was admitted a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 15 July 1837. He practised chiefly in Edinburgh and for a period in Tiverton, Devon. Paterson served as Physician and Senior Physician to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, lecturer on clinical medicine, Medical Officer to the New Town Dispensary and secretary of the College. In 1862 he was appointed Deputy Commissioner in Lunacy for Scotland and retired from this role in 1877. He died on 18 October 1893.
