George Henry Darwin

George Henry Darwin trained at the Victoria University of Manchester and earned his MD from the University of St Andrews. He practised in West Didsbury and served as Consulting Physician to the Manchester City Mission. He was active in the St John Ambulance Association, serving on its executive committee and acting as a judge and examiner, and was appointed a Knight of Grace of the Order of St John in 1897. He also served as Surgeon-Major in the 6th Manchester Regiment of the Army Medical Reserve and was awarded the Volunteer Officers' Decoration. He died in Manchester in December 1921.
