George Harry Melville Dunlop trained in Edinburgh, earning his MB CM in 1880 and his MD in 1884. He worked at several hospitals in the city, notably the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, where he specialised in diseases of childhood and published on the subject. During the First World War he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps, attaining the rank of Major, and was stationed at Etaples, France, where he died in 1916.
