Frederick Royston Fairbank was born in 1841. He became a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 1862 and earned his MD from the University of Heidelberg in 1865. He was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1874 and elected a Fellow in 1892. He practised for many years in Doncaster, where he also served as Surgeon to the Doncaster General Infirmary and as Surgeon-Captain in the Yorkshire Dragoons Yeomanry. He published articles in The Lancet and the British Medical Journal. In later life he pursued interests in architecture and archaeology and was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1888. He died in 1913.
