Francis Howard Humphris

Francis Howard Humphris was born in Croydon in 1866 and educated at Highgate School, the University of Edinburgh and University College Hospital. After completing conjoint honours in 1895, he studied at the University of Brussels, where he obtained his MD. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1900. He practised for ten years in Honolulu and served as President of the Hawaiian Territorial Medical Society. During the First World War he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps, reaching the rank of Major, and later obtained the Cambridge Diploma in Medical Radiology and Electrology. He died in Bath in 1947.
