Ferdinand Foch

Ferdinand Foch was born 2 October 1851 to Bertrand Foch and Marie Dupré. He was a key military figure during WWI, being appointed Supreme Allied Commander in March 1918 and leading the defence against the German spring offensive that year. He was one of two Allied signatories of the Armistice and would later argue that the terms of the Treaty of Versailles were too favourable for Germany. He was awarded honorary fellowship for the role he played during WWI. He died 20 March 1929.
