Edward Charles Roose was born in London in 1848. He studied at Cambridge but left without a degree, later obtaining his MD from Brussels in 1877. He established his practice in Brighton, where he was physician to St John's Dispensary, before moving to London in 1885 and developing a large practice there. He died in London in 1905.
