David Mitchell Macdonald graduated MD from the University of Aberdeen in 1906 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1914. He worked as Visiting Physician at the Manchester and Salford Convalescent Home, Arnside. His publications include 'Ambulance and Sick Nursing Catechisms' (1904), 'Practitioners' Practical Prescriber' (1913), and 'Drug Progress' (1916). He edited the eighth edition of 'Mayne's Medical Dictionary' (1916).
