David Cockburne

David Cockburne petitioned the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in April 1705, requesting that the College assess his qualifications and progress in medicine. Following a three-part examination held over three weeks, the College recommended him for the degree of Doctor of Medicine, which he received from the University of Edinburgh on 13 May 1705. Cockburne was the University's first candidate for this degree. He was licensed to practise on 29 June 1705.
