Charles Webster

Charles Webster, born in Scotland circa 1750, received an MD from the University of Edinburgh with a dissertation on the balance of blood vessels. By 1779 he was physician to the Edinburgh Public Dispensary, where he also taught chemistry. A Fellow of this College from 1789, he later became a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of London (1795) and an international member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Paris. His works included an eight-volume history of the Dispensary and a life of Archibald Pitcairne. He died in 1795.
