Charles Preston

Date of Fellowship admission: 1 December 1704
Charles Preston received his undergraduate degree from the University of Reims on 14 July 1696 and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Aberdeen on 21 June 1699. He was admitted licentiate to the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 21 November 1704 and admitted socius on 1 December, without examination. Preston was a botanist and served as Edinburgh's Professor of Botany. On 4 October 1705 he was appointed to the committee to 'revise the books and rarities of the College'. On 6 December that same year he became College Secretary and Library Keeper and chaired the Library Committee. Preston died in 1711.
