Charles Hay

Charles Hay, 13th Earl of Erroll, was born in 1677 to John Hay, 12th Earl of Erroll, and Ann Drummond. He was Chancellor of King's College, Aberdeen, from 1704 until his death, a position he inherited from his father. Strongly opposed to the Treaty of Union, he was imprisoned in 1708 because he was suspected of being involved with the attempted French invasion in support of the Jacobites. He died in 1717.
