Charles Congalton

Charles Congalton was born in Edinburgh in 1725. Initially trained as a surgeon, he joined the Royal Medical Society in 1744, and was admitted to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1751. Earning an MD from St Andrews in 1771, he practised in the town of Spa in the Prince-Bishopric of Liege, now Belgium in 1778. He was elected to the Aesculapian Club in 1789, presumably having return to Edinburgh during the 1780s. His exact date of death is unclear, but he lived until at least 1794, when he resigned from the Aesculapian Club.
